The best padel in the world continues with the quarter finals of the Dubai Premier Padel P1. There are only eight pairings left in the competition and tomorrow they will play for a place in the final of the men's and women's draw.

Half of today's matches started with a tie-break in the first set and three of these four matches were in the men's draw. Lebron and Di Nenno took the only match today that required three sets to resolve. A match that was even from the start, in a hard fought first set that went to Juan and Martin, but with Edu and Momo getting their act together to deliver a resounding blow with a 6-1 win in the second set, leaving an evenly matched and spectacular final that gave the Spanish-Argentine pairing the pass to the semifinals. The rest of the matches were resolved in two sets and victory for the higher ranked pairing.

The news in the women's draw was once again headlined by the very young Andrea Ustero and Alejandra Alonso, who reached their fifth semi-final together this year. This time they completed the upset against Ortega and Araujo, the fourth seeds of the tournament. Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez, their opponents tomorrow, also had to work hard to beat Patty Llaguno and Lucia Sainz, winning in just over an hour and a half.

The road to Barcelona

Ustero and Alonso will have the chance to round off the feat tomorrow if they make it to the final, as with just a few weeks to go until the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Finals there aren't many opportunities left to climb the FIP Race Ranking, which will decide the 32 players that will take part in the tournament. If they beat Triay and Fernandez tomorrow, Alonso is set to enter the Finals, moving up three places to 16th. Ustero, meanwhile, could move up two places and further strengthen his candidacy by occupying thirteenth position.

In the men's draw, Di Nenno will have the chance to regain that fifth place that Stupa took from him by winning the NEWGIZA Premier Padel P2. Otherwise, there won't be any major direct changes with tomorrow's matches, although they will serve to close the gap between the different positions.
