Argentina did it again. If the iconic Mary Terán de Weiss Stadium already witnessed the largest crowd in padel history back in 2025, this Saturday the Buenos Aires Premier Padel P1 2026 surpassed even that landmark, setting a new world record. A remarkable 16,920 spectators packed Centre Court at Parque Roca for semi-finals day, creating a breathtaking atmosphere fuelled by the passion that only Argentina can bring to the stands.

The crowd played a decisive role in driving their home stars towards a dream finals day, which gets underway this Sunday at 2pm local time. Once again, the world’s top pairings will go head-to-head in both the men’s and women’s draws.

ARGENTINA ROARS DELFI AND GEMMA TO EPIC COMEBACK

Nowhere was the crowd’s influence felt more strongly than in the second women’s semi-final. World No.1s Gemma Triay and Delfina Brea were pushed to the limit by Claudia Fernández and Sofia Araújo before sealing a dramatic 3-6, 7-6(1), 6-4 victory after more than three hours on court.

The weight of expectation initially appeared to affect Delfi Brea, desperate to triumph in front of her home fans. The Argentine even found herself facing a match point, but it was precisely at that moment that the Mary Terán de Weiss erupted louder than ever. Lifted by an extraordinary home crowd, Triay and Brea responded in sensational fashion, storming through the second-set tie-break before completing a memorable comeback to reach their 12th consecutive final together.

Clearly emotional after the match, Delfi paid tribute to the support from the stands: “Argentine fans are always there for us. You don’t fully realise how huge this stadium is until you experience it. I’m so happy to have lived this moment and to have won the match.”

Awaiting them in Sunday’s final will be Paula Josemaría and Bea González (#2), who also came from behind to defeat Ari Sánchez and Andrea Ustero 2-6, 7-5, 6-4. The pair are now chasing a fifth consecutive title after lifting trophies in Asunción, Brussels, NewGiza and Miami. It will be their sixth final in nine tournaments this season, as Bea and Paula look to challenge the dominance currently held by Brea and Triay.

TAPIA-COELLO AND ‘CHINGALÁN’ CRUISE THROUGH WITH COMMANDING WINS

In the men’s draw, the rankings held firm as world No.1s Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia produced a commanding display to defeat Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas 6-2, 7-6(2), booking their seventh final of the season. A hugely popular figure with the Buenos Aires crowd, Tapia said afterwards: “Playing at home with this atmosphere is an incredible feeling. Even if it’s only one week a year, we look forward to this tournament so much and we’re fortunate enough to enjoy every moment of it - especially with another final ahead of us.”

The other semi-final saw Fede Chingotto and Alejandro Galán give Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger little room to breathe, with the slower court conditions working against their opponents’ style of play. The result was far more one-sided than many expected, as Chingotto and Galán stormed to a 6-0, 6-3 victory in under an hour. On Sunday they will battle for their fifth title of the season and aim to maintain their lead at the top of the Race standings, setting up two blockbuster finals in a venue that has now secured its place in world padel history.
